Attendance Policies

Regular school attendance is necessary for students to learn at their highest level. It reinforces the good attendance habits needed in higher education and in the world of work.

School Hours
Churchill school hours are as follows:

Grades Kindergarten, 1 and 2
9:15 a.m. to 3:35 p.m. (Bell rings at 9:10 a.m.)

Hoover school hours are as follows:
Grades 3-5
9:15 a.m. to 3:35 p.m. (Bell rings at 9:10 a.m.)

Students should arrive at school no earlier than 9:00 a.m., as there is no supervision prior to that time. During the noon hour, students are not to leave the school grounds unless a parent comes into the school and signs the student out in the office. Students should go directly home after school. No school supervision is provided after school, therefore students need to be picked up no later than 3:45 p.m.

Visits to a doctor or dentist, confirmed illness, and serious illness or death in the immediate family constitute excused absences. Parents are asked to call the school office absence line (Churchill at 328-3151; Hoover at 328-3451) to report an absence. If a student is absent and not reported before 9:30 a.m., a telephone call will be made to the parent's home or work place. This procedure is intended to provide for the student's safety through consistent home and school communication. Your cooperation in telephoning your student's absence in to the office is greatly appreciated.

We understand that because of some parents' employment obligations, family vacations must be taken during the school year. The responsibility for making up missed schoolwork must be assumed by the parent(s) and the student.

Withdrawing a Student
Please notify the school office if you will be transferring out of our school. This will ensure that your child's records will arrive in the new school district at the earliest time possible.
